The Mozby Experience

Mozby arrived yesterday! We were so excited to pick him up. Everyone admired him while he was in his crate on the way to the car. He was so good on the way home and when we arrived home he was good also! We let him out of his crate and curious as he was, he explored everything in our house possible. A few friends came over to finally meet Mozby and he was awesome with them too. Well, at least until the last 30 minutes he was. He started to get out of hand with some stubbornness of chewing on everything, but as soon as everyone left home he began to wind down. Mozby reaaaaally loves to cuddle and lay next to everyone. He is too awesome with everyone!

So before his first meal at our place I started with a few manner lessons and this guy learns reeeeaaally fast, granted as long as he's not distracted. He gets bored of his toys real easily so it's a little challenging to find something of interest to him. So far we've gone through sit, come, stay, and give. He has them all down, especially give, but I won't be moving on from there until he's got them all completely down. He's even grasped leash walking well. He has so much to learn.

After his job well done, I gave him his first meal and then his potty training began. We had a little rough start only because I didn't expect him to want to go so fast after his meal! But we learned his ways and he's a lot easier to predict now. He will be well mannered in due time. Hopefully.

Some Gear for the New Pup

Fast forwarding through since the day we called to reserve him, we ended up with the name "Mozby". We went through quite a few names, and for some reason, the name just suited him. I also adore the way Kat confusingly says, say it along now, "Mozby?!" Hence, the name of the blog.

So Kat and I decided to go out to Petsmart to hunt for some epic gear to deck out our new puppy in since he would be arriving shortly. He is so going to be geared out when he arrives. 12 more days!!! We are way too excited.

We walked around a bit and looked at some crates and dog food and we eventually ended up buying a kong ball, squeaky tennis balls, a golden bone dog tag, and a "thurs-sun" newspaper subcription for 5 weeks to the OC Register. Kind of a weird story, but the OC Register guy was there while we were in line at the register and offered to give us $13 if we registered for $11.50 for 5 weeks ($11.50 every five weeks after that). The $13 was to be paid in two $5 petsmart giftcards and $3 dollars in cash. We said, "Meh, why not?" since we were going to end up spending that at Petsmart at some later time. We've always wanted a subscription to some kind of newspaper, but we are just going to use the 5 free weeks up, cancel, and wait for a totally mega crazy awesome super happy deal in the newspaper later. Hopefully soon.

Isn't it weird how tv is crap on sundays and the sunday newspaper is the best of all days of the week. It's got to be some kind of scam to get you to read the newspaper on sunday mornings and early afternoons.

We've chosen our first pup!

It all started with my girlfriend, Kat, browsing numerous breeders and their pups. I told her not to, she did anyways, and now we are getting a pup. So awesome! We've actually been talking about this for months now, doing so much extensive research on sibes and I guess it was about time. There were 3 black/white males, 2 red/white females, and 1 black/white females in this litter, although there were other litters born around the same time as well. We really had our eyes on males primarily because females had their period times, and we didn't want to deal with diapers.

We fell in love immediately with this puppy. Kat inquired the breeder about the pup soon after and we made the deal. He was born 08-08-08! That was even the same day my new niece Alaina was born! He is 4 weeks 1 day old here. We had another pup in mind. He was grey/white. But we liked this guy here loads more.

Well yesterday we made it official. The breeder emailed back and asked us what kind of pup we were interested in. We emailed back and she responded telling us that it would be best to decide soon because there were some people coming over later that afternoon to look at her puppies. We talked it through and decided that there was no way we could let this guy go. We had to act fast. It's a good thing too! Almost all her pups were gone after that weekend. We would have been really bummed.

Now it's time we play the waiting game.
